Safety Tips All Women Need to Know
Poway Samurai Martial Arts is offering a one day Women’s Safety course on April 18th from 1 – 4pm, in association with their Personal and Family Safety programs.
San Diego, CA, April 10, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Women who attend will learn physical techniques as well as strategies that can help them in escaping, controlling, avoiding and evading dangerous situations.
This class is for any woman who:
· Drives or travels alone
· Trains at a fitness gym
· Shops at the mall or grocery store
· Gets children in and out of the car
· Runs errands alone
· Exercises in a residential neighborhood
· Enjoys happy hour or a night out with the girls
· Works long hours leaving after dark
· Is a student walking alone on a College or High School Campus
It’s a great class for mothers and daughters or a group of friends, students or co-workers to take together.
Some of the information that will be covered is what to do if an attacker grabs you from behind, has you pinned to the ground or held against your will. Also, women will learn what to do if a stranger approaches them asking for help and how to increase their everyday awareness of their surroundings.
“This class scratches the surface of the basics any woman needs to know to avoid confrontation or safety compromises.” says Mindi L. of San Diego, who took the class last fall. “She’ll learn and how to get out of some basic common scenarios that happen every day by predators. It’s a must!”
“I learned the power of leverage, not strength.” Says Nancy C. of La Mesa, another former student. “ The techniques were simple, do-able, and I came away with usable ideas. I learned details on how “predators” think and practical skills I can use that make me feel safer.”
“Women that have attended this workshop previously have come back to me to say these techniques have helped them. That’s great proof to show that it really works.” Says Tony Whetstine Instructor/Owner. “Restoring confidence to women who have previously been battered or assaulted, as well as increasing any women’s personal empowerment is what makes this class so important and rewarding for me to teach it.”
The "Tools for Personal Safety” Women’s only workshop will be held on April 18, 2008, from 1 - 4 pm at 13378 Poway Road (in the Poway Valley Center at Community Road). Fee: $30 per person. Those who bring a friend will save $5 per person. Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothes. A limited number of sponsored spaces are also available to those who have previously been battered or abused. Please call Tony for more information on this valuable program at #858-486-0059.
