Trident One Stop Career System Hosts Medical Job Fair

Charleston, SC, April 07, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Almost 300 medical field job seekers spoke and interviewed with local healthcare employers at the Trident One Stop Career System Medical Job Fair held at the One Stop Career Center located on Hanahan Road in North Charleston.

“In light of the current economy, we wanted to offer greater opportunities for our customers seeking employment after completing the healthcare training programs we provide through the One Stop System and its partners. The medical job fair was open to the general public seeking employment in the medical field,” said Jason Broughton, Workforce Specialist at the One Stop Career Center.

Broughton continued, “The One Stop normally hosts a job fair after each Community Healthcare Training Program graduation. This year we expanded the career fair by asking more employers to participate. We also added a ‘prep session’ where WIA customers were given information on job interviewing skills and a list of the participating employers so that they could research the companies. The staff reviewed their resumes for completeness.”

Participating employers included: St. George Health Care, Driftwood Rehab and Nursing Center, ATC Healthcare Service, Utopia Home Care, At Work Medical, Olsten Staffing, Carter May Home, PATCH, Charles Foster Staffing Agency, Doctor’s Care and the SC National Guard.

“Trident One Stop's Health Fair was a tremendous success for us! The degree of interest and enthusiasm by the participants was impressive, which I think is a direct reflection of the Career Counselors of the Trident One Stop Career System,” said Liz Russell, Marketing and Community Relations Manager for Doctor’s Care in Charleston.

“Employers took applications and resumes and some job seekers were granted interviews on the spot. There was a lot of networking, “said Kimberly Martin, Interim Workforce Specialist Supervisor. “It was very successful. Employers thought that there was great attendance; job seekers were pleased with what was offered.”

“We plan to have larger quarterly job fairs in the areas in which we are training. The next one is scheduled for April,” added Martin.
