iUniverse Would Like to Announce the Release of Depth of Revenge by Richard Golden
Bloomington, IN, April 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- “War does not determine who is right–only who is left.” — Bertrand Russell
Depth of Revenge by Richard Golden.
Israel and Iran faceoff as Britain, France, Russia, and the United States anxiously wait along the sidelines. Iran has not been persuaded to abandon its nuclear weapons program and its leaders are not deterred by the threat of an Israeli counterattack. Depth of Revenge runs eerily parallel with current geopolitical crises and brings to ‘almost too real’ life the ongoing complexities in the Mideast.
In Depth of Revenge (published by iUniverse) the commander of an Israeli nuclear-armed submarine is handicapped by his inability to access verifiable outside information. If conditions lead him to believe that Israel has suffered a massive nuclear attack and he cannot reach proper authorities, he must open sealed orders from the prime minister directing his response. Deep within the ocean’s depths, the crew and officers of the Tekumah wrestle with their collective sense of morality and religious beliefs under Jewish law. When deterrence fails, is a nuclear response against the nation responsible for the attack and nations supporting or benefiting from the attack justifiable and which specific targets are fair game? The novel’s core is Commander Gilad’s real time diary of the sequence of events that leave this awesome decision squarely on his shoulders. Author Richard Golden compounds Gilad’s burden and the reader’s interest by including crises involving food and fuel shortages, an attack by a foreign navy, a deadly fire, a vengeful commander of a second Israeli submarine, and the unexpected presence of a female intelligence officer aboard.
About the Author
Richard Golden’s interest in the volatile global scenarios of the day, plus his personal passion for military history are a fitting arsenal for the creation of this highly dramatic story set in a region most likely to suffer a nuclear war. Golden reaches deep into the human condition and spins a tale of gripping suspense that unmasks both the emotion and logic behind the monumental decision that must be made by the young submarine commander. Born in Los Angeles, Richard Golden received a B.S. from San Diego State University and a J.D. from the University of Southern California Law Center. Golden holds CPA and law licenses and works as an analyst and researcher for a major corporation. He lives with his wife and two children in the Los Angeles area. Depth of Revenge is Golden’s first book.
