Wake County Economic Development Launches New Video Series “Raleigh-Wake County Business Showcase”
Raleigh, NC, April 09, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Wake County Economic Development (WCED) (www.raleigh-wake.org) has announced that the organization is launching a new video series called “Raleigh-Wake County Business Showcase,” which will feature a variety of locally-based companies that are continuing to grow and remain highly competitive during the nation’s current economic slowdown. The video series will be hosted by WCED and will be made available to the public by way of a free download at its Web site. General announcements will alert the media and public when new videos become available. Featured companies will be selected from across Raleigh and Wake County.
The first video profile for WCED will feature the Raleigh-based company Red Hat, Inc. Founded in 1993, Red Hat (www.redhat.com) is the world's leading provider of open source solutions and is one of the most recognized open source brands. Headquartered in Raleigh and with more than 65 offices across the globe, Red Hat serves global enterprises with open source technology and services. Solutions include Red Hat Enterprise Linux, JBoss Enterprise Middleware and a range of related management tools. Red Hat also offers support, training and consulting services to its customers worldwide.
Amidst the current economic downturn, Red Hat continues to represent one of North Carolina’s most successful and fastest-growing companies, remaining competitive in its market sector worldwide. The Red Hat video will feature interviews with Tom Rabon, executive vice president of Corporate Affairs, and DeLisa Alexander, senior vice president of People and Brand.
The new showcase video series represents one of many social media and new media projects planned or currently underway for WCED. The organization now hosts a blog on its newly redesigned Web site, as well as a section for online news and audio podcasts. The recently launched Twitter account for WCED is hosted at: http://twitter.com/KenAtkins.
“Our new spotlight video series shows great promise,” said Ken Atkins, executive director for WCED. “This series will serve as a new platform to highlight some of the outstanding growth and achievements made by companies in our area, as well as a deserved focus for the positive economic activity throughout Wake County.”
