Visix Releases Remote Control API and SDK for Third Party Control of its Digital Signage Software
Atlanta, GA, April 09, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Visix is pleased to announce the release of its first remote control application programming interface (API).
The API and associated software development kit (SDK) are available for download to interested parties. The SDK will be distributed at no charge to registered clients and partners, while the API is licensed to individual servers for a fee. Initial recipients include Omnilert (e2campus), Coastal Carolina University, University of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University.
Visix believes there is long-term value in a content management SDK allowing any number of parties to develop applications or interfaces capable of controlling specific facets of the Visix line of visual communications applications. The first component of this far-reaching SDK is an AxisTV-controllable API for sale and use by organizations wanting to manipulate or trigger AxisTV from an external interface to interrupt playback of regularly scheduled content and replace it with alternate communications.
“The most obvious use of this API is for alert notifications,” stated Sean Matthews, President of Visix. “When an incident requiring mass notification evolves, there must be a multi-level response – sirens, lights, emails, text messages, desktop notifications and digital signage messages. The AxisTV solution is one component of a multi-tiered system designed to effectively deliver important instructions, guidance and calls to action.”
