UIDesign Group of Russia Hosts Seminars for University Students
UIDesign Group, a leading company in user experience, presenting UXalliance in Russia, was invited to hold a course of study in user experience and user-centered design for students of the State University – Higher School of Economics.
Moscow, Russia, April 10, 2009 --(PR.com)-- UIDesign Group, a leading company in user experience, presenting UXalliance in Russia, held a course of seminars on essentials of user experience and user-centered design, scheduled for February - March 2009.
The seminars were carried out for students of the State University - Higher School of Economics, one of the prestigious universities in Russia. The UX course is part of a retraining program in E-Commerce and Internet Project Management for future PR, Marketing, Brand, and Account Managers, analysts and managers of internet projects. Such specialists are highly demanded at the market, but there are not so many colleges and universities now that would introduce students to system knowledge and best practices of leading experts.
The course consisted of five seminars led by Platon Dneprovsky, Managing Director of UIDesign Group, and his colleagues. The students were introduced to a methodology that divides the interaction design process into several stages: collection and analysis of data, composition of personas, concept and detail user interface design. This methodology is extensively used by UIDG experts in their work, as it is considered to be the most complete and efficient one.
"The course was devoted to all the stages of UI design rather than to a particular one. We tried to give a clear view of each stage. Many people still think that user interface design is a mere construction of mock-ups from different elements. While precedent stages related to collection, analysis and structuring of data are more important for making efficient interfaces."– says Platon Dneprovsky.
Much attention was given to a practical work. The participants together with the lecturers accomplished a small project. Though it was more of a demonstration type, the students were able to carry out the whole cycle of works from A to Z and have a better grasp of the subject.
The students highlighted a practical focus of the course and recommended to extend the number of seminars on UI design. They also liked: “attitude of the lecturers to the course – with all their heart”, “lively interaction with the audience”, “good balance between theory and practice, involvement of the audience” and “sufficient elaboration of the course, its simple-to-follow structure and thoroughness of the knowledge imparted”.
