Slug-a-Bug Inc Earns Elder Friendly Certification from We Help Brevard
Melbourne, FL, April 10, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Finding qualified and trustworthy businesses can be a problem for all of us, but it can be especially difficult for seniors who are targeted more often for scams. We Help Brevard is a non-profit organization dedicated to directing their senior callers to certified and screened elder friendly businesses.
We Help Brevard works hard to make sure that Brevard County senior citizens get the best possible service and care available when they reach out to the local business community.
We Help Brevard provides Elder Friendly Certification to community businesses and acts as a referral source for seniors and their families. Their goal is to offer seniors three trusted referrals per category so seniors can make safer and better-informed choices as to who can best serve their needs. Additionally We Help Brevard follows up on the performance of their member companies in order to help insure that only high quality, trustworthy companies remain members of the program.
Slug-A-Bug achieved the Elder Friendly Certification by undergoing a screening process which included: A personal interview with Slug-A-Bug’s management, validating city, county, and state licensure requirements, reviewing Slug-A-Bug’s history with the Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau, verifying that Slug-A-Bug possesses current liability and Worker's Compensation insurance and finally a review of Brevard County’s civil, criminal, and court databases in respect to their business.
In addition, in order for Slug-A-Bug to acquire this certification, they were required to attend an Elder Friendly workshop which included Sensitivity Training. This workshop helps increase the employee's ability to understand distinctive differences when working with seniors and assists Slug-A-Bug employees in identifying possible signs of elder neglect or abuse.
