Indiana Company Launches Web Site Featuring Sustainably Made Products
Kentland, IN, April 10, 2009 --(PR.com)-- An Indiana-based company has developed an easy way to connect consumers with all the information and products they need to lead a more eco-friendly lifestyle. Go Green LLC recognized that many consumers are eager to do their part when it comes to green living but getting started can be a bit of a challenge. That’s why the firm launched TuwA.com—a unique Web site that links consumers and businesses to merchandise that has been manufactured, packaged and shipped with sustainable methods.
TuwA is much more than online shopping. The site provides consumers with a wealth of information, giving them a better understanding of how their choices in products can impact not only their health but the environment as well. “To move the green initiative forward, you need to educate the consumer about the benefits of sustainable products,” said Mathew Standish, president and founder of Go Green LLC, a national distributor of eco-friendly and healthy lifestyle products. TuwA (pronounced too-a), an ancient Hopi Indian word that means earth, is the sales branch of Go Green LLC.
TuwA is also committed to supporting American-made products and according to Standish, more than 90% of the site’s retail offering is made in the United States. “The benefits of sustainability go beyond what’s good for the environment. The benefits also include jobs and money for American companies and communities,” Standish said.
Go Green is extremely diligent in the selection of products to be featured on TuwA.com. Standish reports that a significant amount of research goes into the selection process and that products must meet the company’s high standards before being placed on the Web site. As a part of this research process, Go Green surveys each manufacturer to assess the overall sustainability of a product as well as other aspects of the manufacturer’s operations such as its social agenda and fair trade status. Once the survey is complete, products are then assigned points. These points, known as TuwA Points, translate into cash that Go Green then uses to purchase carbon offsets from their non-profit partner, carbonfund.org. Consumers are awarded the virtual points each time they make a purchase. One TuwA Point is equal to one pound of carbon offsets. Consumers who earn 2,000 points (or a ton of carbon offsets) are mailed a special certificate acknowledging their contribution to the environment.
“Supporting renewable energy is very important to Go Green,” Standish said. “The TuwA Points program allows us to reduce the carbon footprint and it involves our customers, giving them the chance to do great things for our planet.”
Go Green LLC, provides business-to-business services for offices, organizations, hospitals, schools, municipalities and other institutions looking to become more sustainable. The company currently operates its office, call center and warehouse in Kentland, Ind., about 90 miles south of Chicago.
