Trinity Academy of Raleigh Latin Teacher Receives CAMWS Award
Raleigh, NC, April 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Robert Littlejohn, headmaster at Trinity Academy of Raleigh (www.trinityacademy.com) has announced that Shannon Walker, Latin teacher of the Lower School, has been awarded the Manson A. Stewart Teacher Training Award from the Classical Association of the Middle West and South (CAMWS), an organization for teachers and professors of classical antiquity. The award will help to fund Walker’s study in the graduate Classics program at University of North Carolina – Greensboro where she is a pursuing a Master’s of Education in Latin. Walker received the award at the annual CAMWS meeting in Minneapolis on April 4. She joined Trinity Academy in 2007 and currently teaches Latin to all students in Trinity’s lower school (pre-K – sixth grade).
“We are extremely proud of Shannon for her accomplishments as an educator,” said Littlejohn. “I believe she offers the only Latin program for preK-6 students in the Triangle Area. Her advancements in the study of the Latin language will greatly benefit the students.”
