Philadelphia, PA, April 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Philadelphia-area band New Social Voyeurs has just released a free download of two versions of their new song, “Go.” The song was written by the band’s leader, Rob Sobol, to help in battling the increase in suicides in the past year.

“I was inspired to write a song late one night after I heard about the increases in suicides in the Army and due to the recession. I’ve had some good friends commit suicide over the years, it broke my heart, and I always wanted to write about it. These fellow human beings need some serious kindness in these harsh, harsh times. I wanted to so whatever I could to let them know they are not alone,” says Rob.
.
For the first time in 10 years, the suicide rate in the United States is rising, according to Johns Hopkins University. Recently, the U.S. Government’s Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration launched a new website designed to help people deal with the effects financial difficulties can have on your physical and mental health, and includes typical suicide warning signs. And last year, the Army reported a record number of suicides, and the pace so far this year may well break that record, according to CBS News.

The video for “Go (Part 2),” is now airing on WYBE-TV (MindTV) in regular rotation in Philadelphia and includes information on where to get help if you have suicidal thoughts.

Rob states, “I recorded two versions because I wanted to send a message that was uplifting and motivating. The rock version, “Go (Part 1),” has a video based on old public domain Japanese monster movies. “Go (Part 2)” is softer. For that version, I created a video that, however, really spares nothing in addressing the subject. It features some amazing images from some truly gifted photographers. In addition, Steve Nathanson, who did the Flash anime video for my Redlemon song, Truly, did another amazing video as well for Go (Part 2).”

The two versions of the song, and the related videos, are now available for free download at www.newsocialvoyeurs.com.
