EduKick Madrid Soccer Boarding School Defends Title at Alcalá De Henares Cup
Madrid, Spain, April 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- For the first time ever, EduKick players from across Europe team up to compete in the Alcalá De Henares Cup Youth Football International Championship.
Two EduKick soccer boarding school squads – defending champions EduKick Madrid and EduKick International (a team consisting of EduKick boarding school soccer players from England, France, and Italy) – will be competing in the famous Madrid based international youth tournament.
"We've had our Madrid soccer boarding school team enter the last two years, and they actually won last year," said Joey Bilotta, vice president of EduKick. "This is the first time we've put an international team from our other boarding schools into the competition."
Fifteen players from EduKick Madrid and 17 players from EduKick soccer boarding schools across Europe will be competing. The tournament has four age categories: under 11, under 13, under 15, and under 18, where both EduKick team are entered. The games start Thursday, April 9, and end Sunday, April 12, with the tournament championship.
Some stand-out players for the international team include Mason Hampel, an EduKick France player who has impressed at AS Cannes, and Mike Ehmes, who's been making waves at Bolton in England. Also playing are Jared Stone and Ashley Woodhouse, two EduKick England players who have been invited to professional trials with the Bolton Wanderers FC Football Academy.
FIFA licensed professional scouts from Ramp Management and professional Spanish teams will also be attending the tournament.
"It's an excellent opportunity for players to impress the professionals," said Bilotta.
EduKick has also invited parents and directors from their soccer boarding school programs around the world to come and watch the two teams compete. The EduKick directors will also meet one day in workshop to discuss EduKick business and share ideas.
"For me personally, this is a real monumental event," said Bilotta. "This will be the first time we've organized an event and invited the entire EduKick family to attend. We'll have all of our soccer boarding school director´s attending with the players, which will provide an amazing opportunity for the directors to gett to know each other personally. It's a real honor to get the whole professional EduKick family together and celebrate what we're all passionate about: football and educating young people."
Jon Morgan, EduKick General Manager and the coach for EduKick's International Team during the tournament, agreed.
"We are extremely excited to bring together our international players to share in this wonderful tournament. It's important to provide a platform where our players can come together and share their experiences and knowledge of the game."
