First of “Fated to Love” Series Released: Knight’s Angel Promises Exciting and Romantic Adventure
Austin, TX, April 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In Outskirts Press author Ronda Melendez’ new release, Knight’s Angel, Angel MacLeod, a professor of medieval history at the University of Texas, goes on sabbatical to the borders of England and Scotland. There she is haunted by dreams featuring a handsome knight who is mourning the loss of his beloved Lady Elsinore. Angel will soon thereafter meet her knight in person when she is transported back in time to the era of King Richard the Lionheart. So begins this medieval saga, which brings together magic, historical romance, and adventure in one compelling tale.
Melendez says she set her novel in this time period “because the medieval era is such a wonderfully descriptive time, so full and rich with the history of our ancestors. Romance and chivalry were certainly not dead then, and perhaps a bit of the imagination and romance will rub off on those who read it now.” She wants her readers to be transported to another place and time, to experience the romance and the history.
In Knight’s Angel, Angel MacLeod comes face to face with her dream knight, Lord Philip D’Arcy, when she is magically transported to his time. Adjusting to life in the tenth century is difficult enough, and Philip and Angel are faced with myriad challenges and obstacles—yet they fall in love, and Angel is forced to make the ultimate sacrifice when she chooses to remain behind with her knight, never to return to her own place and time.
Angel clasped the amulet given to her by her great grandmother just before her death. It was a heavy golden disc carved with an elaborate dragon on its surface bearing some sort of obscure writing on the back. “How did you know? My great grandmother gave this to me when I was a child, just before she died.”
“You come from a line of Dream Walkers, my child. It is your destiny to have that amulet. Ah, I can sense the gate now. Prepare yourself, child, and be brave. Do what in your heart you believe to be right and true and never venture from that path.”
A sequel is already underway, tentatively titled Angel’s Heart, in which Melendez explores the setting and lifestyle of the period, as well as the deepening relationship between Angel and Philip. The theme of love is a powerful one for Melendez as she ties in her literary romance with her real-life love story. She met her husband, Oscar, through eHarmony.com and wanted to translate her unusual romantic beginning into a love story she could share with others.
