Orlando Battle of the Bands Kicks Off with Next Big Thing
Local Orlando band, Anyone’s Guess, has created a Battle of the Bands in Orlando Florida to generate interest in local bands and assist fellow musicians in getting their music heard. The seven show concert series, dubbed, “Orlando’s Next Big Thing,” will be held from May 6 to June 24th and will culminate in one chosen band as the winner.
Orlando, FL, April 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Anyone’s Guess is comprised of four hard working and very talented musicians that understand the industry has changed and gone are the days of overnight fame. Having begun in the industry with no help and worked their way up the food chain, they are ready to give back to the community and the industry as a whole.
“Anyone’s Guess started in the music business from scratch,” Clint, from Anyone’s Guess said. “We have realized that it takes much more than talent to get to the top and now we are looking to help a local band with all the resources and the knowledge we have gained by giving them the ultimate promotions package.”
The event will be held at The Haven and will be judged by local industry representatives and other local sponsors. Bands will be judged on originality, song structure, stage presence, crowd involvement, promotion and general overall presentation.
“We created the event to assist local bands that are new to the music scene in getting heard and getting ahead,” Clint said. “We wanted to show that not everyone is out to make a quick buck off of a musician.”
Starting and propelling a band into the spotlight can cost a lot of money and a new band may not have the money or connections to get their music heard by the world. Anyone’s Guess is giving one talented band the shot at stardom no one gave them.
“We are really excited to meet each band and assist one talented group in getting an upstart on their musical career,” Clint said.” We have been promoting the event and getting the word out as much as possible to support the event.”
Local area sponsors have jumped at the change to donate prizes to assist the wining band in getting a jump start on their musical careers.
A few of the sponsors include: Go large Records with press and publicity, Aryadna with graphic web design, Green Thumb Graphics with custom band T-shirts, , OrlandoBands.com with an online spotlight and feature layout, and The Haven, with a performance platform.
With no genre limitations, each band will be given a full 30 minutes to display their talents and impress the fans and judges. The winner of each preliminary show will be announced at the end of the show. Each winner will advance to the Finals on July 25th. The winner of the finals will receive the title “Orlando’s Next Big Thing” and all prizes included will be awarded at that time.
Shows will be held on May 6th, 20th, 27th, June 3rd, 17th, 24th with Finals being held on July 25th. The location of The Haven, 6700 Aloma Ave, Winter Park, FL 32792.
