PaperG Launches Digital Bulletin Boards on Hyperlocal Websites of Boston.com
Boston, MA, April 15, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Local online advertising company PaperG today announced the launch of community Flyerboards as the prominent advertising space on Boston.com’s new Your Town hyperlocal websites. Flyerboard provides Boston.com, the website of the Boston Globe and one of the nation's biggest regional portals, a great way for local businesses to easily and affordably promote their services and events within their communities.
Expanding on the concept of a community bulletin board, the Flyerboard is a virtual bulletin board on which businesses can post flyers to advertise their services and events. Advertisers need only provide an existing image and the Flyerboard automatically converts it into an attractive, interactive flyer ad with built-in community features such as email sharing, social networking, and online maps.
Boston.com, a business unit of The New York Times Company, plans to integrate Flyerboard on all of their hyperlocal websites, starting with Newton, Needham, Waltham, and Wellesley. “With Flyerboard, the Boston.com community websites can now offer a cost-effective way for local businesses to reach local residents,” explained Roger Lee, co-founder of PaperG, the company that developed Flyerboard. “At the same time, Flyerboard enhances the user experience by allowing visitors to easily discover new opportunities in their town in a fun, familiar way.”
The Flyerboard is currently live on over 50 local websites, where it has proven to be an effective advertising tool for local businesses, outperforming the click-through rates of banner ads and Google ads at a fraction of the cost. PaperG, whose other partners include Hearst Newspapers and Parenthood.com, won the Harvard Innovation Competition last year for its innovation in local online advertising.
