Field Trip Safeguard: New Safety and Connection Service by MyContact411

Field Trip Safeguard system allows direct notice to a trip leader if a student is separated from the group so they can be quickly returned, without jeopardizing the identity of the child or the leader’s personal information.

St. Louis, MO, April 16, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Field trips are an important part of the educational process, allowing children to have a hands on learning experience while having a little fun. However, for teachers and administrators, field trips can be extremely stressful because students are out of the normal, protective school environment. MyContact411 recently announced a new program to help alleviate the stress associated with taking a field trip: Field Trip Safeguard.

“Schools, daycares, youth groups, scout troops and other organizations go to great lengths to protect the children within their care. However, while on a field trip, a child can be easily separated from the group. Many times, it is an honest slip, such as a child going to the bathroom, or wandering ahead of the group. But with other schools, buses, crowds and strangers, a separated child is really dangerous. It is emotionally draining for a child and agonizing for the leader,” said Bob Bira, CEO of MyContact411.

Field Trip Safeguard helps reunite a child with their group by providing a means of contact with the leader’s cell phone without divulging personal information about the child or leader. Typically, children wear nametags with a child’s name and school name on it or an entire class wears a t-shirt with the school logo on it. Unfortunately, because of child predators, parents and administrators are more cautious about releasing personal information and Field Trip Safeguard helps protect that anonymity.

Field Trip Safeguard provides schools with lanyards that feature an 800 number and the school’s member id number. The bright yellow lanyards are easily identifiable, yet are made of breakaway material to ensure the safety of every student. If a child is lost, officials can call the 800 number and be connected directly with the leader’s cell phone, helping ensure that a child is quickly and safely reunited with their group.

“We recently used the Field Trip Safeguard program for the 3rd grade on a trip to the Science Center. It was an excellent means of identifying our own children while feeling safer with them wearing the bright yellow lanyards and badges. Every teacher worries about the possibility of a child in their care being separated from a group in a public place. Having a direct phone connection to the teacher on the field trip or the principal without jeopardizing the identity of the student cannot be underestimated. The Field Trip Safeguard program allows for just that,” said Pam Brown, Principle of St. Paul’s Catholic School in Fenton, Mo.

A subscription to Field Trip Safeguard includes 30 lanyards that can be passed from classroom to classroom within a school. Before a field trip, the trip leader simply updates their contact information system. Standard packages start at $70 a year with custom packages available. Used on just one trip, Field Trip Safeguard saves schools money by eliminating the need to purchase school t-shirts for trips.

Field Trip Safeguard packages may qualify for safety funding. Through the MyContact411 Parent Partnership program, for every parent within the school that purchases the MyContact411 Emergency Preparedness service for their home, health and personal property protection, the school receives $10 toward their Field Trip Safeguard subscription or for use in other programs.
