From Pipeline to Published Author, CJ Thomas Releases Night of the Snake Witch

Willard, UT, April 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Outskirts Press author CJ Thomas was staring out the window of her office trailer one day, watching as a shipment of 42-inch pipe was unloaded from train cars to the pipe storage yard. The banding that secured the pipe was taken to the far end of the yard and placed in a pile where, to Thomas’s daydreaming eye, the banding came alive...and started to slither. Thus, the idea for Night of the Snake Witch was born.

In the 1980s, it was rare to find women working the Northern Lights Pipeline project. CJ Thomas was that rare woman who not only worked on the pipeline but also worked in management for two years. The things she endured in the male-dominated arena—the threats, intimidation, and humiliation—and the variety of characters she encountered contributed to the idea for her novel, part of which takes place in the Dakotas on the Northern Lights Pipeline.

In Night of the Snake Witch, Alexandra Kendall is a woman who works her way up from the mail room of an engineering company in Omaha, Nebraska, to Vice President of Logistics of the Pipeline by the age of 26. It is a job that requires her to work with men who resent her presence. They focus on her looks, overlook her abilities, and generally make her life difficult. She is a woman trying to make a living and hoping to overcome her disastrous love life, but seemingly impossible roadblocks keep appearing in her path.

Then things turn downright spooky, and Alexandra finds herself entangled in a web of voodoo and the supernatural—not to mention intrigue, deceit, and murder.
