April 21st Grand Opening Celebration Includes a Pink Parade and Ribbon Cutting with Allen Mayor Stephen Terrell. For Every Person Who Registers to Win $500 in Gift Cards Watters Creek Will Donate $1 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
Allen, TX, April 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm, a 52-acre mixed-use outdoor retail, restaurant and residential development, is proud to welcome the North Texas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® to its tenant roster. On April 21, the North Texas affiliate will open a new race headquarter and retail space called the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® North Texas Affiliate Pink Boutique located in the heart of the Watters Creek retail and restaurant district.
“Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death for women,” said Susan G. Komen North Texas Race for the Cure® Chair Mary Frances Hoover. “Through this generous donation of retail space from Watters Creek we are not only able to spread awareness, it also helps us raise additional money that will fund grants that provide breast health programs in our three county service area.”
The 2,800 square-foot premier retail space will include a wide selection of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® merchandise available for purchase including everything from hats and apparel to jewelry and pet accessories, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to help in the fight against breast cancer. North Texas residents and Watters Creek shoppers are encouraged to come in and register or sponsor a participant for the 2009 Susan G. Komen North Texas Race for the Cure®.
Watters Creek is donating the storefront space, utilities and other financial support including a portion of the proceeds collected from the Watters Creek street side parking meters “Change for Charity” program. Skyline DFW Exhibit & Graphics, a fast-growing event marketing solutions company serving North Texas, also provided build-out for the space.
The Watters Creek connection to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is a natural extension of the property’s commitment to the community and to the women who make up such a large part of their customer base. By tapping into local women’s focus groups and determining what matters most in the community, Watters Creek is able to expand upon it’s mission - by women for women - through donations to such worthwhile women’s causes.
“What’s important to women in our community has always been a central part of our mission,” said Trademark Founding Partner Terry Montesi. “We are proud to continue our tradition of supporting local women’s initiatives like Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, that enrich so some many lives in our community.”
To kick-off the grand opening celebration a “Pink Parade” will be held on Tuesday, April 21 at 11 a.m. starting on Village Green Drive near Borders meandering its way through Watters Creek, concluding at the new Pink Boutique. Parade festivities include a pink Cadillac provided by Crest Cadillac of Plano, one of Sweet & Sassy’s hot pink stretch limousines and several other pink participants. Directly following the parade is a ribbon cutting with Allen Mayor Stephen Terrell, Trademark Property Company Marketing Director Shawn F. Yujuico, Susan G. Komen North Texas Race for the Cure® Chair Mary Frances Hoover and Susan G. Komen for the Cure® North Texas Affiliate Board President Jennifer Hernandez.
