Browsing 1.25 Million Photos on Google Maps Without Having to Wait

The web-based service geocubes which started in January 2009 is now being used by the British Geograph Project in order to display and browse 1.25 million photos from different regions of the UK on a Google map.

Berlin, Germany, April 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- "We offer the quickest service in this field, regarding both the implementation and the speed of presentation." says Timm Beyer, CEO of the skilldeal AG. geocubes recently included a new functionality to filter geo-data for categories or text. For Qype, an European community for user-generated reviews of restaurants and destinations, the skilldeal AG realised a map application based on geocubes, qmapr, which shows 410.000 Qype destinations all over the world. On this map the user can filter by category and use fulltext search in order to identify e.g. all pizzerias in East London.

geocubes has been developed by skilldeal AG from Berlin in Germany and is an innovative SaaS solution. geocubes clusters geo-referenced data into squares, improves the performance of a website that utilises Google maps and presents those geo-points in a well-structured way.

The recent trend towards geotagging on the web may also change internet search in general. As of today, online communities and yellow pages increasingly add map-based search functions to their web offerings. While performance of these maps is obviously crucial, extended search functionality becomes more important, e.g. by filtering search results by category or text on the map. geocubes offers the optimal solution for this kind of (geo)graphical search.
