Don’t be Another Statistic: New Book Teaches Self-Defense Basics That Could Save Your Life

Dallas, TX, April 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In the time it will take to read this paragraph, someone in the United States will be violently assaulted -- and surveys show most Americans don’t know how to defend themselves. But a new book from renowned martial arts expert “Chief” Adrian Roman is giving people with no prior self-defense experience a fighting chance at surviving a physical attack.

Just published by Outskirts Press (www.outskirtspress.com) The Apprentice Warrior: Practical Self-Defense, lays out a revolutionary self-defense system specially created for the average person who does not want to be caught off-guard in a dangerous situation. The secret is the Apprentice Warrior System, which emphasizes movements and techniques to help potential victims neutralize and escape an attacker -- not initiate or prolong combat. Roman, a 10th-degree black belt grandmaster, designed the system for novices, men and women alike. It’s proven be quick and easy to learn -- and, most importantly, effective.

Using clear photographic illustrations and easy-to-understand directions, readers will learn to escape attacks that include the front two-hand choke, rear bear hug, wrist grab, straight punch, hair grab, throat-knifing and much more. Divided into increasingly compound techniques, the book can have readers practicing at black belt-level movements in just 12 months with one hour of study a night.

What’s more, practitioners can be confident they’re learning from one of the most respected experts in self-defense. “Chief” Adrian Roman (aka Red Warrior – Tushka-Homma) is a 67-year-old full-blood Choctaw Indian with over 55 years of experience in the martial arts. He is known worldwide as a senior instructor, teacher and philosopher and was recently installed in the Texas Martial Arts Hall of Fame for his lifetime of achievements.

The Apprentice Warrior is now available through Ingram, Baker & Taylor, Amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, and the online bookstore of Outskirts Press, at outskirtspress.com/store.php.
