The Art Institute of Ohio - Cincinnati Gears Up to Participate in Week of Service, April 19-25, 2009
Students, staff and faculty at The Art Institute of Ohio - Cincinnati will be participating in the National Week of Service, April 19-25 by planning a variety of initiatives to benefit The Lord's Rose Garden, a local nonprofit agency that serves disadvantaged youth and families.
Cincinnati, OH, April 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Students, faculty and staff from The Art Institute of Ohio - Cincinnati will team up on a special assignment that will promote goodwill and valuable support to the community during National Week of Service, April 19-25, 2009.
The Art Institute of Ohio - Cincinnati students, faculty and staff are no strangers to community service. Since its inception, the school has been actively involved in community outreach with various projects ranging from blood drives to food drives to volunteering in soup kitchens.
This year, The Art Institute of Ohio - Cincinnati students, faculty and staff have partnered with The Lord’s Rose Garden, a local non-profit organization dedicated to assisting disadvantaged youth and families with life’s necessities, including food, clothes, household goods and children’s items.
For the past several months, The Art Institute of Ohio – Cincinnati community has been assisting The Lord’s Rose garden with collection drives for items ranging from food and clothing to Easter baskets, books, art supplies and toys.
The week of April 19-25, 2009, The Art Institute of Ohio - Cincinnati students, faculty and staff will host several workshops and events for families served by The Lord’s Rose Garden, including:
· Monday, April 20, Clothing Drive and Food Distribution, Times TBD
· Tuesday, April 21, Clean-up at local housing complex, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.; Community Cook-out, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
· Wednesday, April 22, Art Classes, 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. (Origami - Ages 10 and up; Under the Sea - Ages 9 and under); Home Budgeting - 6 p.m.
· Thursday, April 23, Dress for Success, Time TBD, Career clothing seminar and giveaway
· Saturday, April 25, Family Cooking on a Budget, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.; Junior Film Fest / Movie Making, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.; Lunch for parents and children, 1 p.m.
Another Week of Service initiative undertaken by students in The Graphic Design Club is the development of promotional and collateral materials for The Lord’s Rose Garden to use on an ongoing basis, such as a logo, brochure and website.
“Participating in the National Week of Service complements our campus environment of serving our students and serving the community where we live and work,” The Art Institute of Ohio - Cincinnati President Maurice Lee said. “Giving back to the community is always the right thing to do and we are proud of the work and support our faculty, staff and students have put into this important effort.”
