Skin Rejuvenation Clinic Owners Complete Advanced Body Sculpting Training
Mark Hagberg, MD and Elizabeth Hagberg, MD, the husband/wife owners of Edina’s Skin Rejuvenation Clinic, P.A. recently completed an extensive Vaser® body design training at the Advanced Body Sculpting Institute in Colorado.
Minneapolis, MN, April 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The owners of Minnesota’s Skin Rejuvenation Clinic, Mark Hagberg, MD and Elizabeth Hagberg, MD completed an advanced training in body sculpting and design Feb 27 through March 1, 2009 at the Advanced Body Sculpting Institute in Lone Tree, Colorado. Led by Dr. John A. Millard and Dr. David R. Broadway, the training was centered on the latest Vaser® ultrasound-assisted liposuction techniques.
Vaser® ultrasound-assisted liposuction is a treatment to remove unwanted areas of fat which is hard to target with diet and exercise. The procedure was FDA-approved in 2002.
The treatment begins when the fatty layer is infused with tumescent fluid. Next, the high frequency vibration of Vaser® ultrasonic probes causes the fat cells to break apart and emulsify into the infusion fluid. The emulsified fat is easily removed and during the healing process, your skin will retract to give you a smooth, natural-looking result.
While traditional liposuction procedures simply reduce fat volume, Vaser® Lipo, also known as LipoSelection, takes it a step further using state-of-the-art ultrasound technology. This technology is tissue-selective and targets unwanted fat, but preserves surrounding tissues such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue promoting smooth contours and rapid healing. There is little downtime.
Training instructor Dr. David Broadway is a triple-board certified plastic surgeon. Priding himself on the natural appearance and superior quality of his results, Dr. Broadway further distinguishes himself from his peers in his depth of aesthetic experience and emphasis on patient care. Dr. John A. Millard is a double-board certified plastic surgeon who is internationally known for his expertise in leading-edge body sculpting procedures. Dr. Millard was the first surgeon to practice the revolutionary VASER Hi-Def procedure in the United States, learning the procedure directly from its inventor in Colombia.
Drs. Elizabeth and Mark Hagberg offer both Vaser® ultrasound-assisted liposuction and ProLipo laser-assisted liposuction at their practice located within the Minneapolis St. Paul metropolitan area. Developed in 2007 and now FDA-approved, ProLipo laser-assisted liposuction (SmartLipo, CoolLipo and Slim Lipo use similar technology) has been widely-embraced by the public and members of the cosmetic industry because of the gentler recovery process and due to the fact that the patient does not need to be “put to sleep”; in other words general anesthesia is not required.
“Laser-assisted liposuction is a desirable treatment for many reasons, one of which is cost. People who have recently ruled out traditional liposuction due to cost concerns, are now considering laser-assisted techniques because they are often times less expensive,” he explains.
Dr. Hagberg feels that self-investment is another factor which is contributing to the steady growth of ProLipo and other cosmetic procedures such as Botox®, Restylane® and ProFractional laser services. “Recently a client told me she was laid off from her job and now finds herself competing with a younger generation for jobs,” he says. “She told me that she wanted to refresh her look in order to be more competitive in the job market.”
Developed in 2007 and now FDA-approved, ProLipo laser-assisted liposuction (SmartLipo, CoolLipo and Slim Lipo are similar) has been widely-embraced by the public and members of the cosmetic industry because of the gentler recovery process and lack of anesthesia required.
“Traditional liposuction requires a cannula to be inserted under the skin to remove isolated pockets of fat. But when you manually suction fat without the newer technologies, the aggressive back and forth motion causes more bleeding, swelling and destruction of tissue,” Dr. Hagberg says. “Laser-assisted liposuction is gentler and takes traditional liposuction to the next level by actually melting fat cells before they are removed, causing much less trauma to tissue, resulting in decreased bleeding, swelling and bruising. This ultimately leads to a faster recovery,” he continues. “In fact, the treatment is so comfortable, at our clinic patients do not need to be put to sleep; they are kept awake and relaxed.”
Dr. Hagberg adds that in addition to melting the fat, ProLipo and Vaser procedures cause the body to stimulate production of collagen, resulting smoother and tighter skin in the targeted area, with continued tightening for up to six months.
Mark K. Hagberg, MD and his wife Elizabeth Hagberg, MD have devoted their full-time practice to delivering minimally and non-invasive cosmetic care at Skin Rejuvenation Clinic. The physicians administer all of the body contouring procedures and anti-aging laser and injectable services themselves.
Dr. Elizabeth Hagberg graduated from the University of Minnesota with an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and a degree in Medicine. Dr. Mark Hagberg received his undergraduate degree from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN and his medical diploma from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He is board-certified through the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice.
Drs. Beth and Mark have trained with many of the top plastic surgeons and cosmetic dermatologists in the country. They also train physicians, physician assistants, and nurses on various anti-aging laser and injectable procedures.
