Wohl Optics Organizes an Event to Encourage those from Warminster to Donate Used Glasses and Sunglasses to Soldiers

Warminster, PA, July 27, 2006 --(PR.com)-- During the past 60 years, three generations of the Wohl family served their country. The Wohls, raised and bred in the Warminster area in PA, have always believed in defending American values and its vision of Freedom and Democracy. Gina Wohl, Doug’s wife and mother of the most recent Wohl to serve in the military, confided, "I was very emotional and proud to see my son enroll in the U.S. Navy." Benjamin S. Wohl, presently serves on the USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63), stationed out of Japan. He is an airman who works with missile launchers affixed to the jets. “I realized that a family tradition was being born when I joined the Navy. Maybe some day my son or daughter will enroll too. I'm so proud to be part of the family of the armed forces and to serve my country,” said Benjamin. 
 
Recently, on July 1, 2006, the USS Kitty Hawk, with more than 5,300 Sailors in its Strike Group, and the U.S. Navy’s oldest active warship, along with embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5 and USS Cowpens (CG 63), pulled into Otaru, Japan, for an eventful port visit that included a celebration of the United States 230th Independence Day anniversary on July 4th. “The purpose of the port visit was to provide an opportunity for rest and relaxation and to give the crew a chance to participate in friendship and goodwill activities such as community service projects,” said Capt. Ed McNamee, Kitty Hawk’s commanding officer. Doug’s father, Albert Wohl served in the U.S. Army during the Second World War, arrived in Europe on the Queen Mary and involved in the ferocious Battle of Normandy. 

In 1980, Doug, CEO of Wohl Optics, headquartered at 550 A West Street Road, Warminster PA, served as a torpedoman on submarines (SSN 705 City of Corpus Christi). Doug is a proud Plankowner member - The USS America Carrier Veteran's Association Plankowner's Club. 

"All in all, it is such a good feeling to know that I’ve served this great country, and now I want to show my appreciation to the military by organizing an event that will help supply soldiers with refurbished sunglasses and prescription glasses. Because I’ve been in the Optical business for over 23 years, I understand how important it is to be able to see clearly and without distractions. I want to do my part and hope that I have the support of my community to donate their used glasses and sunglasses. On Sunday, September 17th, 2006, I will host an event in our parking lot that will include antique dealers specializing in military paraphernalia, a live band, grilled food and the opportunity to drop off used glasses. We also anticipate the participation of officials from the Willow Grove Naval Air Station."
