CMR Institute Introduces 4C Program -- Visionary Education for Medical Representatives Demonstrating Credibility and Commitment with a Medical Representative Certificate
CMR Institute has launched a preparatory program for pharmaceutical representatives, biotech representatives, and medical device representatives covering science, anatomy, pharmacology, disease state management, ethics and compliance, and evidence based medicine. The online course takes 30 hours to complete.
Roanoke, VA, April 22, 2009 --(PR.com)-- CMR Institute, the leading independent provider of non-branded education for pharmaceutical professionals, announces the launch of 4C (pronounced Foresee), an e-learning educational program for all medical representatives who want to publicly demonstrate mastery in key knowledge areas valued by physicians, including science, anatomy, pharmacology, disease state management, evidence-based medicine, outcomes management, ethics and compliance.
“The pharmaceutical industry is facing multiple challenges, from increasingly restricted physician access to public questioning of the value of the representative role,” says Cherie Hicks, CMR Institute’s President and CEO. “Independent verification of competency is a first step in answering the criticism leveled by those calling for greater transparency in marketing practices. Improved education--not regulation--benefits all parties, but most of all, the patient for whom medicines are prescribed.”
The 4C curriculum is based on years of research with physicians, key stakeholders, academic experts, and industry leaders to identify the key knowledge areas considered vital to successful representative/physician interactions. 4C content also reflects knowledge considered essential by legislators in recent state mandates seeking to establish continuing education and basic competency requirements, including the District of Columbia’s SafeRx Act and Massachusetts’ Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Manufacturer Conduct Regulation.
The four “C”s represent the core competencies, capabilities, and credibility required to be an effective, highly regarded representative. “Establishing unbiased, unbranded educational standards based on core competencies identified by research and providing a voluntary educational pathway to achieve them ultimately improves patient care by enhancing the physician/representative interaction,” says Hicks. Upon successful completion of the program, representatives will earn a Medical Representative Certificate of Professional Competency.
Delivered in a flexible online format with 35 condensed learning modules, the 4C program provides convenient, self-paced learning for busy professionals and is designed to be completed in approximately 30 hours of time for study and testing. Using the latest interactive technologies, 4C will be updated regularly to reflect any changes in the regulatory environment and stay current with state educational mandates as they occur.
“We believe the 4C Program addresses the needs and concerns of both physicians and the healthcare community, by allowing medical representatives to further demonstrate their professionalism and commitment to their careers through completion of an independent, science-based curriculum,” says Hicks. “4C allows representatives to augment their knowledge in several key areas that will improve the value of their interactions with physicians and ultimately, the care delivered to the patient.”
