On April 14, 2009, Mindgrub Technologies was featured in BaltimoreSun.com’s article, Web Sites Want to Be Cyber Guides to City Social Scene, for their work with 600Block, whose application puts “great Baltimore places, specials and deals in your neighborhood” on your doorstep.
Ellicott City, MD, April 22, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Mindgrub Technologies was approached by the founders of 600Block in January to create an iPhone application for the company. The iPhone app, a location-based service, takes all the features of 600Block’s website and places them in the palm of your hand.
600Block offers a guide to Baltimore, Maryland’s restaurants, bars and clubs, shopping, arts and entertainment, and active life. Click on the name of a venue to find the neighborhood in which it’s located, its address and a link to its website (if applicable), reviews, specials for the day, hours and additional information. If you’re not sure where to park when going to your favorite music store or want to know whether the restaurant whose food you’re craving delivers, 600Block offers that information also.
If you’re just looking to save money, you can click on “Specials” and choose a restaurant or shopping venue accordingly. If you have an account with 600Block, you can pick and choose venues to add to “My Scene” so that you have easy access to your favorite places.
600Block’s idea is innovative and very handy, but in a world where social media is trumping internet sites, they needed a way to offer their services whether users were sitting in front of their computer or walking down Baltimore’s Avenue with iPhone in hand. After hearing about Mindgrub’s work with other iPhone applications, 600Block’s founders contracted Mindgrub to build a cutting-edge iPhone app that would offer all of the resources found on their website. The application will be available for purchase shortly.
