Missouri Fair Tax Proposal Sponsor Rep. Ed Emery to appear on AmericaFirst
Republic, MO, April 22, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Missouri State Representative, Ed Emery, who sponsored a state Fair Tax proposal was successful in its passage in the Missouri House Thursday 4/16/2009, will appear on BlogTalkRadio's show "AmericaFirst" (http://blogtalkradio.com/AmericaFirst) with host Keith D. Miller on Thursday, April 22, 2009, at 8:00 a.m. Central. The interview will highlight Rep. Emery's activities in getting this legislation through committee and passage by the Missouri House of Representatives.
HJR 36, if passed by the Missouri Senate, will allow the voters of Missouri to vote on an Amendment to the Missouri Constitution that would replace the current state income tax with a consumption based or Fair Tax system. If approved the current sales tax rate would be raised by 1.1%. The legislature would have one opportunity to change the rate to make it revenue/spending neutral.
A 1968, graduate of Nevada High School, Representative Emery received a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1972. Ed, a Republican, represents Barton and Dade counties and portions of Jasper and Polk counties (District 126) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to the House in November 2002. In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Emery provides character education and Character First! training materials to businesses and institutions through his small business called Character Returns.
