Information Technology Provider MicroTech Awarded Foreign Agriculture Service Contract with USDA
Pace-Setting Small Business to Provide Network Management to Federal Agency; MicroTech is Prime Contractor on over 60 Federal Contracts, eight prominent ID/IQs and GWACs.
Vienna, VA, April 23, 2009 --(PR.com)-- IT systems integrator MicroTech announces a Federal contract award to provide Information Technology Infrastructure Management solutions to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foreign Agriculture Service. The MicroTech contract supports the Information Technology Division (ITD) of the USDA, responsible for the acquisition, design, maintenance, and services of the IT program in support of the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS).
USDA’s FAS works to improve foreign market access for U.S. products and the competitive position of U.S. agriculture in the global marketplace. The FAS also enhances U.S. agriculture’s competitiveness by providing linkages to global resources and international organizations.
MicroTech is one of the nation’s most highly-regarded and fastest-growing network and IT enterprise management providers, offering Information Technology Systems and Services, Strategic Solutions, Audio-Visual Telecommunications Design and Installation, Product Solutions, and Consulting Services primarily to the Federal Government, and city, state, and local agencies – managing over 400,000 users daily.
Under the terms of the FAS contract, MicroTech will provide cleared Network and Operations Management, Telecommunications Support, ITIL Service Desk Implementation, Asset Management, IT Security and Information Assurance Support. The contract is for five years, including options, and has an estimated total value of more than $25 million if all options are exercised.
“The Information Technology division of the USDA FAS is well-regarded for its progressive approach to complex IT solutions,” said Tony Jimenez, President and CEO of MicroTech. “MicroTech is excited about joining the FAS IT team and we look forward to leveraging our talented, committed technology professionals and best-in-class delivery model in support of the USDA and FAS user community.”
MicroTech will perform most of the IT and Network services at the Foreign Agriculture Service agency headquarters in Washington, DC. The award-winning small business will also provide technical support to the 90 FAS offices around the world, including regional hub-sites in Brussels, Tokyo, and Buenos Aires, and an additional FAS IT facility in Kansas City, MO.
“The USDA FAS contract award reinforces what MicroTech has accomplished over the last five years in the government technology arena,” Jimenez said. “USDA FAS is interested in implementing the latest in quality certified IT solutions and we are honored to have been selected to lead the way.”
