Preparations are now well underway for the return of the British Beach Polo Championships to Sandbanks, Poole, which will also see rival teams from England and the USA go head to head in an international polo match for the first time ever on British sand.
Dorset, United Kingdom, April 24, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Preparations are now well underway for the return of the British Beach Polo Championships to Sandbanks, Poole, which will also see rival teams from England and the USA go head to head in an international polo match for the first time ever on British sand.
Visitors and residents alike will revel in the glamorous atmosphere and truly unique display of sportsmanship, where the Polo, known as the Sport of Kings, is brought to one of the country’s most prestigious Blue Flag beaches for the second year running on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 July. Six teams of the most talented international and national polo players, including the England team featuring Chris Hyde who is the best arena player in the country will compete in this world-class sporting event. With six ponies on the beach at any one time, with six others waiting outside the arena for their turn to play, the matches will follow arena polo rules with each team made up of three players. Covering a smaller area than conventional polo, beach polo is fast paced and exciting, giving spectators the advantage of watching the action at close quarters.
In addition to the Championship match schedule and the international matches, a celebrity charity polo pony race in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund and Help for Heroes will take place during both days. Friday is ‘Ladies Day’ with an additional focus on corporate hospitality, where the Champagne and Sandpolo cocktails will be flowing.
The British Beach Polo Championships will conclude on each day with ‘Party at the Sandpolo’ which will take place at the Players Party Marquee on the sand. On Friday from 6pm until late, HedKandi - record label, radio show as well as international club sensation – will be delivering the chic evening beach party, which will be HedKandi’s only UK beach party. On Saturday evening from 6pm, The Players closing party will finish the event in style with sounds provided by special guest DJs Sam Young and DJ Charles.
Johnny Wheeler from Sandpolo Ltd says: “Building on the huge success of last year’s inaugural Championships, 2009 promises to be a phenomenal event and Sandbanks is set to host the exciting sport of beach polo for the next five years. The British Beach Polo Championships combines this extremely exciting spectator sport with the spectacular surroundings of the most exclusive beach community in the country. To these ingredients add the finest of hospitality and good company and visitors have an experience to remember.”
There are a host of sponsorship packages, corporate hospitality opportunities and ticket options available to make the event accessible to all. General admission to the tournament is £35 per day, the Polo and Party tickets cost £70 and table packages cost up to £300 per head.
