The Maurer Foundation Announces Grant from The Assurant Foundation

Mineola, NY, April 24, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Maurer Foundation for Breast Health Education has been awarded a grant from The Assurant Foundation to support their Community Breast Health Programs. Through public education, The Maurer Foundation delivers knowledge and hope while empowering women of all ages and life stages to become their own best health advocate.

Over the course of a forty-five minute program, The Maurer Foundation’s Breast Health Education Programs provide vital information about reducing the risk for breast cancer. In addition, they teach participants the most effective methods of early detection. Their educators are certified and demonstrate how to perform a proper breast self-exam using the most comprehensive technique. By utilizing unique, extremely life-like silicone breast models, participants learn how to feel for embedded pieces which feel very similar to the type of lumps that breast surgeons might consider suspicious. This hands-on learning experience builds essential skills for detecting tumors in their earliest stages.
