Alan Davis, M.D., Ph.D., is an assistant professor at the University of Utah School of Medicine Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Salt Lake City, and the medical director for Quinney Rehabilitation Institute at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center. His medical practice focuses on inpatient medical rehabilitation. He completed his residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He then completed his neuroscience Ph.D. investigating how yoga-like breathing exercises produce a relaxation response. He has been apprenticing with Sarah Sifers, Ph.D., a graduate of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies (FSS) Three-Year program, and is pursuing FSS coursework, including an intensive in advanced shamanism and shamanic healing with FSS Education Director, Sandra Ingerman. Davis is also the president of the Board of Directors of the Society of Shamanic Practitioners, which is “an alliance of people deeply committed to the re-emergence of shamanic practices that promote healthy individuals and viable communities.”
