Sue Kozel Receives 3rd National Business Advocacy Award in 2006 - Unveils Create with Your Heart Day
Cream Ridge, NJ, July 29, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Today, Sue Kozel, founder of SK Visions in Cream Ridge, New Jersey, announced that her business received its third national recognition for business leadership and advocacy in 2006. Named one of the top ten 2006 recipients of the Mirassou/NAWBO Optimist Award, Kozel announced that she will be unveiling a new day to promote creativity and sharing in 2007 called, “Create with Your Heart Day.”
The special Mirassou award honors women who maintain an optimist viewpoint while confronting challenges in their business and personal lives. In the award application, Kozel described her childhood as a witness to family violence and her family’s descent into poverty as a result of this violence. Her Mother’s vision of creativity and sharing helped instill in Kozel the importance of thanking those who open doors for others and to always see the positive in life. Kozel’s Mirassou award nomination outlined her plan to unveil a community day of sharing and caring in 2007 that will honor her Mother’s memory as business leaders and community members are encouraged to create works of art, notes of inspiration and acts of sharing in a new day, “Create with Your Heart Day.” For more information please visit Kozel’s business web site, www.skvisionsmedia.com, and click on the home page logo for this special day.
Kozel thanked her business peers for affording her this prestigious honor in addition to naming her the 2006 WIPP Public Policy Award recipient during a ceremony at the spring conference for Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), the nation’s largest bi-partisan women’s business group, and a US Chamber of Commerce 2006 Blue Ribbon Business. Kozel was the only NJ woman to receive one of WIPP’s seven awards, and the only NJ business to be honored by the US Chamber at its 2006 Small Business Conference in Washington, D.C.
“Sue is a leader who understands and exemplifies the importance in engaging women entrepreneurs in the political process. She sets an example for women across the country that it is imperative to be involved before legislation and public policies become law, which may have a negative impact on a company’s growth,” said WIPP President and Co-founder Barbara Kasoff.
Kozel, a WIPP national partner, was the 2005 Co-Chair of the WIPP Energy and Environment Committee, moderated WIPP’s 2005 national panel on energy issues, and donated an ad in a national magazine to WIPP to help promote its visibility. She also serves on the US Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Council. Since 1998, she has donated over $40,000 to promote community organizations and her annual business scholarship to promote the environment. She has numerous honors including: NJBIZ’s 2006 50 Best Women in Business, 2005 Enterprising Women of the Year Finalist, and the 2004 National Stevie Award Recipient for Women Entrepreneurs in the Community Involvement category. She has been a strong advocate arguing against the drilling of oil in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).
Kozel/Third National Award in 2006
She participated in a 2005 NJ Congressional roundtable discussion on energy issues and was invited to attend House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s unveiling of the national Innovation Agenda in November 2005. She serves as NAWBO South Jersey’s first Diversity Committee Chairwoman and has published op-eds about diversity compliance, civil rights, and cultural tolerance.
“It is humbling to receive such an honor from your peers,” said Kozel, who was NAWBO South Jersey’s 2005 Member of the Year and a member of the 2005 Athena International Conference Committee. “I am honored to work with WIPP and NAWBO SJ to advocate for women business leaders, and women and families. When we share, we touch lives profoundly. I welcome hearing from business leadership who have stories to share about their philanthropic vision and leadership.”
