Technical Services Inc. President Named to Durham Workforce Development Board
Durham, NC, April 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Technical Services Inc., a privately held electrical training and recruiting firm, has announced that Lisa Pineiro, president of the firm and founder of WOmen @ Work, a nonprofit organization, has been named to the Durham Workforce Development Board. The board brings together various services to train potential employees and assist in job searches with the goal of creating an effective workforce in Durham. The board also supports youth education, training and employment initiatives.
An active resident in the Durham community, Pineiro is dedicated to building a strong base for the local workforce, particularly within the construction sector. In 2008, Pineiro launched WOmen @ Work, a nonprofit that encourages young women to enroll in traditionally male-dominated construction industries. She is a member of the board of directors for the Construction and Architectural Design Academy at Southern High School in Durham and vice president of the nonprofit Durham Careers in Construction, a group of construction professionals that educate young, at-risk, public school students about the wide array of lucrative careers in construction.
Quotes:
“I am honored to be named to the Durham Workforce Development Board,” said Pineiro. “I am passionate about creating programs that encourage an effective workforce, especially on the local level. I look forward to collaborating with fellow board members in this effort.”
About WOmen @ Work:
WOmen @ Work is a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging young women to explore traditionally male-dominated construction fields. The organization was founded by Lisa Pineiro, a former cosmetologist who now owns her own electrical training and recruiting firm, Technical Services Inc. (TSI), in Durham, N.C. Pineiro saw the shortage of women in the construction industry and knew that this was a missed opportunity for many young women. As a result, Pineiro formed WOmen @ Work to persuade middle and high school age girls to embrace construction and other trades as a viable career path. Pineiro travels throughout the Southeast to spread her message during a hands-on program that allows young women to learn and exercise skills in construction. For more information, call Lisa Pineiro at (919) 620-8909.
