Tampa Artist Invites Community to Journey to Japan
Dee Youmans-Miller Starts Travel Blog to Chronicle the Creation of a Japan-Inspired Collection.
Tampa, FL, April 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The local community is invited to share in the journey and joy of Dee Youmans-Miller’s two-week excursion to Japan.
Beginning May 15, the Web site, www.deeyoumans.com, will be a virtual door through the eyes of an artist, as she sees the mysterious world of geishas and shrines for the first time. The award-winning artist will be journaling her trip in an on-line blog and posting photographic images of the sights. Pulling inspiration from the sure-to-be vibrant images and memorable experiences, Youmans-Miller intends to begin a new series of paintings based on her travels.
“I hope to open up a world that people miss,” said Youmans-Miller. “The details, the colors, and the inspiration will be captured and posted on-line so that others can experience the Japanese aesthetic and gain an understanding of how and why an artist creates.”
In the following summer months, her Web site visitors will see the progress of the paintings that will come to life as her images go from camera to canvas. Additionally, Youmans-Miller will detail her artistic methods as well as explain why each image made an impression on her. This is an unparalleled opportunity for those whom have ever marveled in curiosity at the images streaming from an artist’s paintbrush.
“Details of everyday life lost on everyone else can become a major focus for an artist,” said Youmans-Miller, regarding the secret behind what compels an artist. “Colors inspire and bring along text and textures which blend on a canvas, creating a work of art.”
Born and raised in Plant City, Youmans-Miller creates personal and commissioned pieces from abstract to realism in acrylic, colored pencil, and multimedia collage. During her 30-year career, she has been featured in dozens of exhibitions and received numerous awards for her artistic abilities. Many of her pieces can be found in both corporate and private collections nationwide. Graduating with a BA in Art History and an MA in Art Education, Youmans-Miller has taught at colleges, has worked in the education department at the Tampa Museum of Art, and has led a successful career in the fast-paced advertising industry. Currently, this locally active artist is a member of North Tampa Art Leagues, and she serves as art director and co-owner of Full Throttle Intermedia (FTI: www.ftintermedia.com), an award-winning media company specializing in video production, animation, architectural renderings, and motion graphics. With an extensive background in both graphic and fine art, Youmans-Miller has a wide perspective from which to tell a unique story via artwork that connects with the viewer.
