Muse Gallery Unveils "Palettes to Portraits" May 8 at WestEnd Space
The Longmont Council for the Arts and the Muse Gallery, 356 Main Street in downtown Longmont announces the grand opening of its new special exhibit space, the WestEnd. The opening exhibit features the debut of "Portrait Alliance of the Rockies", a portrait group.

Classical and contemporary portraiture for a new age
The grand opening will take place Friday, May 8th, 6:00pm to 9:00pm with the début of the group Portrait Alliance of the Rockies. The group consists of seven artists, six painters and one sculptor – Claire Evans, Chris Groves, Gaynor Nelson, Valentin Okorokov, Cherie Nobilette, Susan Strok and John Taft. Each artist brings their unique vision and approach to the art of the portrait utilizing a variety of mediums that include oil, pastel, graphite, conte, charcoal, color pencil, bronze and plaster. Local artist Gaynor Nelson organized the group with the intent of promoting the awareness of the portrait as well as highlighting local and international talent.
The grand opening will feature a portrait demonstration by member Claire Evans. Food and drink will be provided by Sugarbeet restaurant, Fox Creek Beer, Wine and Spirits and Left hand Brewery. The exhibit will run from May 8 to June 30. Two additional openings are scheduled for May 15, 6pm-9pm during Artlink celebration and June 12, 6pm-9pm featuring Friday Night Fiesta with entertainment provided by the Spanish Flamenco guitar of Steve Mullins.
