Outskirts Press Releases the New Book, "For Everything There is a Reason," by D.A. Winter
Los Angeles, CA, August 03, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Paul Alan Mitner and his wife, Sara, are on the highway riding their Harleys when they collide with an out-of-control eighteen-wheeler. Sara and her bike are pulled underneath, causing the truck to burst into flames. Though Alan manages to drop his bike, his head slams into the trailer, and he in sent careening down the tarmac, his flesh being pounded and ripped along the way. Managing to pick himself up, he stumbles aimlessly down the road. He is a wounded man, suffering from amnesia. Then an angel appears to show him the way...
So begins For Everything There Is a Reason, a suspenseful story of a man without an identity, whose key to survival lies deep within. The focus, however, is not on Alan’s recovery per se, but on how his presence impacts the lives of those whom he encounters on his journey. Providence intertwines Alan’s life with the lives of a family of illegal aliens forced to run from the law, an emergency room nurse who is the mother of a troubled teenager, and an administrator who suffers from intense guilt over her past. As our main character discovers that he has an ability to “know” the personal struggles of those around him and aid in their healing, he comes to realize his present purpose in being alive.
Author D. A. Winter grew up in an Air Force family. He continued the tradition by joining the Air Force and served as a firefighter for twelve years until he suffered from injuries and was medically discharged. He then became a middle school math teacher and part-time ESL college teacher. He has worked with high-risk kids who live in extreme poverty and kids who have been in gangs. Winter is married and has raised eight children.
In Winter’s personal fight against degenerative bone disease, his spine collapsed and he became wheelchair bound. After five surgeries, Winter is still disabled, but he is walking again. “My life is one of constant change,” Winter says, “and God has never let me down.” He says of For Everything There Is a Reason: “I used my faith, imagination, belief in humankind, and life experience to create this book.” Winter is currently hard at work on the sequel.
