Outskirts Press Releases a New Teen Novel, "What's it Going to Be" Where Love and Fate Play Out on a Distant Planet

Denver, CO, August 02, 2006 --(PR.com)-- “What’s It Going to Be?” is a first novel from sixteen-year-old Olena Protsiv. It is a science fiction love story that takes place in the past and the present, but has everything to do with the future. When the character of eighteen-year-old Melissa finds herself transported to a distant planet, her only thought is, “When can I go home?” The planet’s Elders say, however, that it is her destiny to be there, and until that destiny is complete, she cannot return to Earth.

On the planet of Seron, which is a very Earthlike place, fate introduces Melissa to Mark, and the two experience a fateful attraction. As their affection grows, Mark’s envious and lovesick friend, Carla, threatens to take revenge. Now, for all involved, the fulfilling of Melissa’s destiny becomes a race against time.
“Somewhere in Nathan's house, Carla sat smiling like a cat that just ate a canary. Finally, finally, she had all of her resources to get back at Melissa, and get rid of her and finally get Mark’s love forever. She started to laugh and couldn't stop. Now, all she had to do was set the stage right and then everything was going to go according to plan. She wondered when the action would begin, and then she decided to see how long Mark waited before making his move. Oh, revenge was going to be so sweet.”

Olena Protsiv lives in Toronto, Canada, with her family and her black cat. “I started writing when I was in the seventh grade,” Olena says. “Whether it's short stories or poetry, I love writing because it helps me express myself. Instead of getting depressed, I sit down and write and it helps me feel better. Writing is a part of my life. I write at least every other day or more if I am inspired or have an idea. My inspiration to write this story came when I was doing a homework assignment for my English class. At first, I was going to make it into a short story, but when I discovered that it was going to take more than five to ten pages to tell this story, I knew it would be a novel.”
