Event Synopsis

Home Ownership and Equity Protection Act was enacted to help ensure that homeowners yet the fairest deal when they seek equity financing on their home. As a result of the Subprime crisis, regulators are taking a new look at the regulation to help homeowners navigate through this very difficult time. Financial institutions, particularly banks and credit unions, should have a thorough and comprehensive understanding of how HOEPA is going to play out in this challenging environment.

The Knowledge Congress is assembling a panel of distinguished professionals and key regulators to help understand the impact of HOEPA in today's financial world. The speakers will present their expert opinions in a two-hour Live Webcast.

About Matt Schriner

Matt Schriner is a managing director with the Technology Risk Management Services group. He has more than 17 years of experience in assessing and managing financial institutions’ risks as a banker, a regulator and as a consultant.

Matt has extensively assisted financial services companies in regulatory risk issues. In addition to his consulting experience, Matt was employed as an examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. In his tenure with the Fed, Matt was involved in over 100 bank examinations, on many of which he was the lead examiner. As part of his training with the Fed, Matt attended numerous Board of Governor’s banking schools. Matt has also held compliance officer positions at two large bank holding companies. In these roles, he assisted in the development and monitoring of regulatory compliance performance.

Matt is a frequent national speaker and writer on current compliance challenges. He has authored several publications, including risk management newsletters, manuals and feature articles. He routinely speaks at state and national conferences on risk management topics. In addition, he was instrumental in the development and delivery of two national regulatory risk management schools.

Matt has a broad-based knowledge of compliance laws and regulations. With the combination of his experience with a large financial institution and his work as a field examiner, Matt provides a unique perspective on how institutions can best comply with the regulations, given the limited resources available.
