NAMWOLF Commends Wisconsin for Meeting Minority Business Goal
The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms commends Governor Doyle for ensuring that the State of Wisconsin met the Minority Business Enterprise Program’s goal for 2008.
Milwaukee, WI, April 30, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) commends the efforts made by Governor Doyle and the State of Wisconsin in meeting the 5% purchasing goal set by the Minority Business Enterprise Program.
A recent report from Governor Doyle’s office showed 5.87% of state procurement went to firms in the Minority Business Enterprise Program during 2008. This report signifies the first time the Minority Business Enterprise Program has reached its goal of statutory 5% state purchases from certified Minority Business Enterprise Firms.
NAMWOLF, a nonprofit trade association comprised of minority and women-owned law firms and other interested parties throughout the United States, promotes diversity in the legal professional by fostering the development of long lasting relationships between established minority and women-owned law firms and corporate and public entities.
NAMWOLF promotes these relationships through a variety of programs, including its Corporate and Public Entities Partnering Program (CPEP). Created six years ago, CPEP recognizes companies aiming to spend a minimum of 5% of their outside counsel budgets with certified minority and women-owned law firms. There is no cost to join the program. More than 150 corporations and public entities have enrolled in the program, including two of Wisconsin’s Public Entities – State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB) and Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA).
For more information about NAMWOLF or its Corporate and Public Entities Partnering Program, please contact Yolanda Coly at 414-277-1139 or email her at ycoly@namwolf.org.
NAMWOLF’s Fifth Annual Meeting and Law Firm Expo will be held at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers in Chicago, Illinois on October 5 and 6, 2009.
