Twotwentytwo Restaurant and Bar Launches at the Landmark London Hotel

On Tuesday 5 May 2009, twotwentytwo restaurant and bar will launch at the prestigious five-star Landmark London Hotel in fashionable Marylebone. Following a million pound spend, the completely renovated space offers a sophisticated setting for drinks, lunch and dinner.

London, United Kingdom, May 01, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Twotwentytwo Restaurant and Bar in the Landmark London Hotel promises to be a premier gathering spot in the Marylebone area for luncheons, after work drinks, wine bar devotees and casual sophisticated dining. Leading designers, Fusion by Design, have sympathetically refurbished twotwentytwo restaurant and bar to perfectly combine traditional with eclectic modern features.

Formerly Cellars Restaurant, the original oak-wood panelling, sculpted ceilings and antique fireplaces from the Grade II listed building have been retained, while the bespoke furniture is upholstered in glossy leathers and fabrics by Zoffany, Andrew Martin and Harlequin Harris.

Custom-made double-sided banquet-seating provides a focal point, whilst bespoke pendants are suspended over butcher-block-style tables featuring polished pewter tops with inset Champagne bowls. An eleven metre-long Chesterfield-style sofa sits in front of the large front windows.

As a playful reference to the horse-drawn carriages which used to drop-off guests in The Landmark Lonodon Hotel’s courtyard, a life-sized black horse lamp by Moooi has been positioned at the entrance. Elegant lighting is key to the design, and three contemporary “Flower of Life” chandeliers by Willowlamp, which were hand-made in South Africa, glisten through hundreds of silver beads.

Additional features include polished oversized mirrors and a Wine Library, which runs along one side of the bar, showcasing a large display of fine wines. Two specially commissioned artworks take pride of place next to the original fireplace. These depict contrasting transport methods and fashion ideals from 1899, when The Landmark London Hotel first opened, and from 2009.

The Executive Chef, Gary Klaner, has created a diverse modern-European menu to reflect the chic style of twotwentytwo restaurant and bar. Menu items include: Beef carpaccio with rocket, black truffle oil and freshly shaved parmesan; Seafood risotto with crab, prawns, mussels, squid and tarragon; Open tart of wild mushrooms and goats cheese, home-dried tomato, mizuna and dandelion; and Pan-fried fillet of seabass with a fennel, watercress and orange salad.

The Grills section of the menu offers a variety of grilled meats and fish. All the produce is top quality, with the beef coming from traditional Irish breeds grazed on grasslands and matured for 21-28 days. Additionally, guests can create their own Sharing Platters from a selection of dishes.

To help guests make a more informed choice when dining, the wine list divides reds and whites into different categories such as “Fruity and Elegant Red Wines” and “Crisp and Fresh White Wines”. An interesting cocktail menu features cocktails for Him and Her.

Guests can enter twotwentytwo restaurant and bar from a private entrance on Great Central Street, or directly from within the hotel.
