La Grange, IL, May 01, 2009 --(PR.com)-- On May 27, LaGrange Pointe will join with an estimated 100,000 seniors nationwide, and 1,000 local events, to promote active, healthy lifestyles through physical fitness, good nutrition and preventive care as part of the 16th annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day (NSHFD).
As an official NSHFD site, LaGrange Pointe will host a Senior Fair with over 25 health and fitness exhibitors. The Senior Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at LaGrange Pointe, a new boutique senior living community, located at 51 East Cossitt Avenue in La Grange, Illinois, on the northeast corner of La Grange Road and Cossitt Avenue.
“Our Senior Fair is a wonderful opportunity for seniors to make, renew and revitalize their commitment to live healthier lives through better health and fitness,” said Linda Kunicki, leasing and marketing director of LaGrange Pointe.
Exhibitors will hand out information, provide free blood pressure screenings, answer questions and discuss health and fitness related topics, among other activities. Attendees will enjoy informational presentations, including a special presentation by Greg Kite, a 12-year NBA player, and member of the 1984 and 1986 NBA Championship Boston Celtics.
“Greg is dedicated to helping seniors,” Kunicki added. “His special presentation will focus on specific braces that assist seniors in managing arthritis pain and diabetes.”
The event is free, but attendees are asked to bring non-perishable items for the food pantry of St. Francis Xavier Church in La Grange. For more information about the LaGrange Pointe Senior Fair, please contact Linda Kunicki, 708-354-7600 or linda@lagrangepointe.com.
About National Senior Health & Fitness Day
National Senior Health & Fitness Day is always held on the last Wednesday in May in support of Older Americans Month and National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. NSHFD is coordinated by the Mature Market Resource Center.
About LaGrange Pointe
LaGrange Pointe is an alternative to the typical retirement community. A small, intimate community comprised of 30 residences, LaGrange Pointe was designed to encourage residents to maintain healthy and active lifestyles. Due to the smaller size campus, LaGrange Pointe is able to provide a high level of customer service that is supportive and family like. LaGrange Pointe is an example of the urban planning trend of creating more walkable communities. For residents, an in-town setting is beneficial because it provides natural intergenerational interaction and a one-to-two block distance to shops, dining and entertainment that keep seniors active, engaged and a part of the greater community.
