Park West Gallery Launches Fanch Ledan Website
Features Fine Art, Video Interview, and Biography.
Southfield, MI, May 04, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Park West Gallery recently launched a microsite for acclaimed artist Francois Ledan, better known by his Breton nickname Fanch. The site features information about the artist, a virtual gallery of his work, and video footage of his interview with Park West Gallery Director Morris Shapiro.
Fanch’s artwork can be characterized by the implied presence of participants, the order enhanced by color, and the distant view. According to art historian, Eleanor Hight, “The tremendous appeal of his art comes from the delicate balance, but underlying tension, between what is real and what is possible. His cheeriness, often exuberance, is balanced by both worldly knowledge and personal introspection.”
The art crafted by Fanch is inextricably tied to the events of his life and is executed in a colorful ‘primitive’ or naïve style. While his artwork is inspired by collective memories of places he has seen, many works spring from the imagination rather than specific places. His love for the outdoors is depicted in his art by the often airy spaces. When asked about his connection to the outdoors Fanch explained, “I spent all my childhood vacations on the beautiful beaches of Brittany, and I am forever attracted to beaches and oceans and all the activities that are possible around them: diving, fishing, sailing, kayaking, surfing, swimming, and tanning. Overlooking the vast and inspiring ocean from my atelier, I constantly find peace and emotional renewal.”
Through this new site, Park West Gallery has made Fanch’s fine artwork viewable worldwide and continues its mission of bringing fine art to people everywhere. Park West’s other outreach initiatives include donations of artwork to universities, conducting fine art auctions aboard cruise ships and support of youth-based charitable causes.
