Job Connections, in Danville CA, Supports Thousands of Unemployed and Underemployed Professionals in the Bay Area with Free Job Search Support

Danville, CA, May 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- One of the largest networking groups providing assistance to job seekers in Northern California, Job Connections (www.JobConnections.org), provides valuable resources and job transition help. As a community service of the Community Presbyterian Church, located at 222 W. El Pintado Road in Danville, CA, Job Connections was created in 2002 to encourage Bay Area professionals to connect with local business leaders, network with recruiters, and learn leadership, networking and communication skills.

The cost-free services provided by Job Connections and the large network of professional members have attracted thousands of Bay Area residents to its weekly meetings. An average of 270 people attend each week. These meetings are supplemented by a very active online community sharing resources and job leads daily. With over 2,750 people from diverse industries and backgrounds, members are given the opportunity to network, attend educational workshops and informative guest speaker presentations. Job Connections also helps members create small groups called “Success Teams” of professional peers meeting on a regular basis in their geographical areas to focus on individualized job search support.

The Job Connections outreach program is a model of success that is being adopted by churches throughout the state of California.

Job Connections helps displaced workers by establishing professional relationships directly with hiring managers and top executives within the church and major companies throughout the Bay Area. Leaders and members help facilitate the introduction of qualified individuals for employment consideration. All services are provided for free through the generous support of Bay Area businesses and community leaders. Volunteers and member support keep the program moving forward. Companies including Chevron, Kaiser, Safeway, FedEx-Kinkos, Chase, Wells Fargo and dozens of other prominent businesses help Job Connections continue this important community outreach program. The media has also been very supportive and Job Connections is partnering with KTVU/KICU, Comcast, San Francisco Business Times, KFAX and others to create public awareness about the program.

Members who find employment give back by sharing open positions and helping other members make connections with hiring managers at their new company. Their “alumni” participation helps strengthen the program and gives members inside access to hundreds of Bay Area businesses. Alumni Rob DeLange of San Ramon, now a Career Consultant with Right Management, says “Job Connections quickly enabled me to expand my network, and I secured 2 interviews at my very first meeting! The practical advice I received from weekly keynote speakers kept me focused on positive, proactive things I could do each day to make my career transition more effective in a very challenging job market."

Large and small Northern California businesses are taking notice of the talented membership and using Job Connections to help their recruiting efforts. Through developing professional relationships with community leaders and company executives, Job Connections is able to connect recruiters and hiring managers with experienced job candidates. Businesses can post job openings on the Yahoo! Group site or attend and recruit at weekly meetings and at the Northern California Career and Leadership Summit, Job Connections largest outreach event.

The upcoming 2009 Northern California Career & Leadership Summit will be Job Connections’ largest event to date. The Summit takes place on Saturday, May 30th from 8am to 2pm in Danville, CA and is a free half-day Leadership Conference. The event features three prominent speakers: Motivational Speaker and Olympic Medalist, Paul Kingsman, Dr. John Schinnerer, President & Founder of Guide To Self and Author, and International Business Coach Skip Weisman. The Summit provides a forum for professionals to network with each other and recruiters, meet with representatives from leading hiring companies, and learn how to develop leadership and communication skills. This year’s attendance is expected to be 1,500. Registration and information is online at www.jobconnections.org.
