K2 blackpoint a 2009 Tech·Ed Awards Finalist
K2 software in the running again after winning best ‘SharePoint Development’ product in 2008.
Redmond, WA, May 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- K2 blackpoint™ software was named a finalist in Penton Media’s 2009 Best of Tech·Ed Awards.
One of five finalists in the “Productivity & Collaboration” category, K2 blackpoint (K2.com/blackpoint) provides simple tools for powerful SharePoint workflow; and it starts at just $5,000 (US).
With easy-to-use designers — including a Silverlight-based Web designer and an Office-style designer — K2 blackpoint empowers non-developers and business users to take ownership and build SharePoint workflow applications, without complexity and without writing code.
K2 blackpearl – K2’s flagship product and its most comprehensive software for building process-driven applications across the enterprise — won Best Product in the awards’ “SharePoint Development” category last year.
“We are thrilled K2 blackpoint was named a finalist in the highly competitive ‘Productivity and Collaboration’ category,” said K2’s Adriaan van Wyk, CEO. “SharePoint is pervasive, and there is a very real need for software that is totally focused on enhancing its workflow capabilities and allowing non-developers to create meaningful applications. K2 blackpoint is our response to that need.
“It enables businesses to be more efficient, gives them deep visibility into their processes and frees IT resources to focus on other mission-critical projects and applications. And because K2 blackpoint is a subset of K2 blackpearl, it offers an upgrade path.”
K2 blackpoint was released to market in March 2009. A free trial is available at K2.com.
“We are always looking for ways to do business better,” said Ryan Shell, manager, Sales Administration at Armitron, a K2 blackpoint customer and early adopter. “SharePoint worked very well for us to a point, but we kept hitting walls.
“We figured out very quickly that we needed something else – something that was easy to use, something that would streamline our processes while reducing the possibility for errors and delays, and something that would allow us to reuse our workflows across multiple processes.”
Finalists for this year’s awards were chosen from more than 200 entries. Editors from Penton’s Windows IT Pro magazine and SQL Server Magazine will interview award finalists and name the winners during the Microsoft Tech·Ed North America 2009 conference next month in Los Angeles, Calif. Products will be evaluated on strategic importance, competitive advantage, and value to customers.
