About Frederick M. Borchardt

Fred is a member of KPMG LLP’s Forensic Advisory Services practice and leads its national Records Risk Management service line. He has been a Partner with KPMG for 26 years. In his 36 years of experience with KPMG, Fred served as an Audit Partner in the New York City Banking Practice from 1985 to 1988, and led the Chicago Financial Services Audit Practice through 1998, when he joined the St. Louis Advisory Services Practice.

Professional and Industry Experience: Fred’s industry experience includes banking, broker dealer and investment advisors, as well as consumer products. Core strengths and accomplishments include: Instituted an enterprise wide Records Management Program and Governance Structure for a major U.S. broker dealer by leading a KPMG team; Conducted a needs assessment and built definition requirements for a Records Management application at a major professional services organization; Lead KPMG’s Response/Support to assist an international bank and a U.S. broker leader in responding to FDIC/NASD regulatory actions relating to Records Management failures; Assisted KPMG internal audit teams in conducting audit assessments of Record Management Programs at two national financial service organizations; Developed business requirements for the selection and implementation of an Enterprise Records Management solution for a Fortune 50 Company.

Publications and Speaking Engagements: Contributing editor to the Third Edition of the Banker’s Handbook.

Other Activities: Former Member of the Board of Advisors for the Banking Research Center at J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management; Member of KPMG’s Partner Audit Committee; Alumni member of Leadership Greater Chicago.
