Joe Dumars Fieldhouse Gears Up for Grand Opening of Joe’s Backyard BAR BQ, May 15
Expanded Hours, Live Music, New Decks and Waterfall Among Features.
Shelby Township, MI, May 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- A new deck, waterfalls, a boat for seating and live music every weekend are among the new features to be experienced when Joe’s Backyard BAR BQ located behind the Joe Dumars Fieldhouse (www.joedumarsfieldhouse.com) in Shelby Township opens its doors for the Summer on May 15.
The season kicks off at 5 p.m. on May 15 with a member appreciation barbecue. Doors will open to the public at 8 p.m. Free musical entertainment featuring Cliff Erickson along with free beach volleyball, horseshoes and other games and contests will be available for patrons throughout the evening.
Joe’s Backyard BAR BQ will be open Mondays through Saturdays from 5 p.m.-2 a.m., all Summer long and into the Fall. Saturday afternoons and Sunday evenings are available for company picnics and family outings.
Erickson, named “Entertainer of the Year” by Orbit Magazine, kicks off a schedule of live music every weekend starting May 15 and continuing into September. Named “Entertainer of the Year” by Orbit Magazine, Erickson recently released his second album “Acquired Taste,” which features 11 songs with a Southern flair ranging from ballads to dance songs. While Erickson is a regular opening act for national entertainers at DTE Energy Theater such as the Beach Boys, he is best known for his highly interactive club shows where members of the audience are either singing along or being pulled up on stage. Other scheduled acts to appear this Summer include 2 Days Gone, R.V., Andrew Robinson, Left for Dead, 2 Days Acoustic and Blindid.
Patrons of Joe’s Backyard BAR BQ also can enjoy their evenings in front of a 20,000-pound fireplace with a built in plasma TV, a three-level water fountain, or on the 2,000-square foot patio while sitting in the original Tiger Den chairs from when Comerica Park first opened.
Joe’s Backyard BAR BQ share some of the competitive opportunities of the athletic facility to which it is attached, including three lighted beach volleyball courts, four horse show pits and a 400-foot long banked oval track for radio controlled vehicles.
