Ikando Has Great New Volunteer and Intern Opportunities with the National Museum of Ghana
The National Museum of Ghana, the largest of its kind in West-Africa, is looking for people with experience in curating and cataloguing to join their team.
Springfield, MO, May 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The National Museum in Accra is the largest and oldest of six public museums in Ghana. Opened on 5th March 1957 by the late Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent (UK), this museum is home to a wide array of exhibits such as indigenous Ghanaian musical instruments, gold-weights, beads, traditional textiles, stools, pottery and ancient masks and beads from all over Africa.
Currently, the Ghana National Museum seeks curators, cataloguers and interested students to help with general organization and maintenance of exhibits as well as an e-digitization of existing exhibits.

Ikando provides skilled volunteers and interns to organisations in Ghana, West-Africa. Their objective is to help more people gain the life changing, life affirming experiences that volunteering can give. They are committed to enabling skill transfer, enabling organisations in the developing world to access different skill sets and to helping volunteers realize the value they can add using the skills they hold.
Ikando hopes their volunteers will become responsible global citizens as a result of their experience with Ikando, promoting the need for social change and raising awareness in their home communities on the issues they encountered. Africa has a lot to offer but also needs support, the support it rightfully deserves.
