Accidental Rep Presents Working Sessions – Great Plays of the 20th Century
Accidental Rep presents its final working sessions as part of the Living Room Series, featuring scenes from great plays of the 20th century, drawn from our professional workshop, May 28-30 and June 4-6 at 8pm, 555 Eighth Avenue, Suite 403, in New York City.
New York, NY, May 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Continuing its presentations of “working sessions” or open rehearsals, Accidental Repertory Theater will conclude its first season of public performances with six evenings of selections from great plays of the 20th century, drawn from the company’s professional workshop. The informal sessions, presented as part of ART’s Living Room Series, will take place Thursday through Saturday, May 28-30 and June 4-6 at 8pm, at John Strasberg Studios, 555 Eighth Avenue, Suite 403.
“This is a series of working sessions,” ART Artistic Director John Strasberg said. “We are exploring the scenes from the plays you are coming to see. Anytime an actor is in front of the public, they feel a responsibility towards them. It is normal in any performance situation. Actors may feel that they can't take the time to do their work, they’ve either done it, or not.
“But in our upcoming Living Room Series, as with all our work this spring, we’re inviting audiences into a privileged situation. Here, you can watch actors who are still searching and discovering their characters, still discovering what the possibilities of life are, in the words, in the relationships onstage, still hoping to have the moments of spontaneity that define all creative processes. This is an exciting point in the process, and one that audiences rarely see.
“As we’ve said before, at ART the result is the process. And we hope you’ll find it enjoyable, and be moved and entertained as you share these evenings with us, discovering the process of creating life.”
For reservations call 646 435 7867 or email tickets@accidentalrep.org. A $10 contribution is suggested.
