BJAC’s CEO Earns LEED Certification

Raleigh, NC, May 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Lou Jurkowski, chief executive officer at BJAC, pa (www.bjac.com), an architectural firm offering professional services for specialized, complex institutional projects, has been certified as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional (AP) by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). This professional certificate recognizes individuals with extensive knowledge and a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles as well as a familiarity with LEED requirements, resources and processes. LEED is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.

Jurkowski is the first woman to be appointed to the North Carolina State Building Commission and currently serves as chair of the North Carolina Retainage Commission. She is a member of the advisory board for the Women’s Center of Wake County and a member of Leadership North Carolina, as well as the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the North Carolina Hospital Association, the North Carolina Hospital Engineers Association, Vistage, the Society of College and University Planners, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
