They are tired of waiting for the government to subsidize alternative energy for homes in the US. In that spirit, they are announcing an opportunity to give money to Americans for doing the right thing. On the first day of fall, September 22, 2009 they will pick a valid entry at random to win a hundred US dollars.
Most of the electricity supplied by power plants in the continental United States comes from burning coal. Coal causes more carbon than burning other natural gases. Carbon emissions is one category America does not want to stay number one in. It is never to late to remind the world that the U.S. is a democracy. The people of this great nation are capable of rolling up our sleeves and doing what is right.
In addition to doing the right thing and winning a hundred dollars, participants will save money. If someone is generating their own electricity, they don't need to pay the electric company for it. Some people even get paid by the electric companies for the excess power the solar panels and wind generators produce.
