OpenCuro is Now TRUSTe Certified

OpenCuro earns TRUSTe Privacy Seal for its Commitment to User Privacy Protection.

Carson City, NV, May 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- OpenCuro, the payment system designed with a focus on payment privacy and security, and TRUSTe, the recognized authority in online privacy certification, announced that OpenCuro has earned TRUSTe's Privacy Seal. This certification acknowledges OpenCuro’s dedication to maintaining a high standard for clear disclosure and protecting user privacy.

"Our payment system utilizes random, one-time-use payment codes which means our users can make payments without sharing their personal or financial information –just like cash. When we take payment privacy this seriously, you can be assured that we are just as committed to safeguarding user privacy, and this certification by TRUSTe validates that," said Ian James, CEO of OpenCuro.

To be eligible for TRUSTe’s Privacy Seal Program, a company must pass TRUSTe's extensive evaluation of its privacy practices and remain in good standing by adhering to the stringent requirements of notice, choice, access, security and redress outlined in the Federal Trade Commission’s Fair Information Practices. In addition, TRUSTe provides consumers and organizations an effective, easy-to-use method to resolve privacy disputes through its online Watchdog Dispute Resolution service.

“By becoming a TRUSTe sealholder, OpenCuro gives its customers a clear signal that it is trustworthy and respects the privacy wishes of the people who visit its Web site,” said Fran Maier, CEO of TRUSTe.

About OpenCuro
OpenCuro operates a patent-pending system that lets users make and receive payments without giving up any personally identifying information including credit card or banking information, address, phone number or even name. The cornerstone of the system is a randomly generated, one-time-use payment code called a “CuroCode.” OpenCuro can be used to exchange money between individuals, or to pay businesses, or online merchants.

For buyers, paying with OpenCuro means no duplicate or unauthorized charges. It also means there is no need to cancel accounts, and check credit reports the next time a merchant’s security is breached. Once a CuroCode is “cashed,” there is nothing for thieves to steal and nothing for merchants to protect.

For sellers, accepting OpenCuro eliminates chargebacks, holds and reversals for unauthorized or unrecognized payments since OpenCuro authenticates payments within the OpenCuro system.
