CDIA at Boston University Will Hold Study Abroad Workshops This July in Nova Scotia
Waltham, MA, May 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University (CDIABU) will hold its annual Photography and Filmmaking Workshops in Nova Scotia in July. With both beginner and intermediate sessions, the program is open to anyone interested in learning or honing their craft. Taking full advantage of the workshop’s location and the city’s cultural treasures, participants will learn to document the wonders of Nova Scotia while developing a lifelong ability to create deep visual essays about any location.
Photographing Place: Lands and People of Nova Scotia will be led by Robert Caputo, and Filming Place: Lands and People of Nova Scotia will be led by Federico Muchnik. Two tracks are available for each workshop: Beginner Intensive, from July 12 – 18; and Intermediate, from July 12 – 18. Participants in the Beginner Intensive will learn the basics of photography or documentary filmmaking. Intermediate participants will work more independently, while still benefiting from instructor support.
Since 1980 Bob Caputo has been a regular contributor to National Geographic. He has won awards from NPPA Pictures of the Year, Communication Arts and the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation. His work has also appeared in Geo, Natural History, Life, Time, Outside Audobon and Scientific American. Bob has published two photographic essay books and has authored National Geographic field guides in photography.
Federico Muchnik has spent most of his career as a producer, director, actor and educator; his work has been screened at the Sundance, New York and Toronto Film Festivals. As producer of Destinos (1990) at PBS/WGBH-TV, Federico traveled throughout Europe and South America filming this acclaimed television series. Federico led CDIA’s first filmmaking workshop abroad in Prague in 2007, and again in 2008. He has a BFA in Film and Television from the Tisch School of the Arts, NYU, and speaks four languages.
Education, technology and geography combine to make CDIABU’s upcoming summer workshops a fantastic opportunity for budding photographers and filmmakers, From Halifax and beyond, students will explore one of North America’s most beautiful and little-visited places. Both Bob and Federico are excited to once again lead the groups through an international setting to explore and document people and places, to guide individuals from concept to production.
